The petitioner, challenged the installation of a firewall by government authorities, alleging it adversely impacted internet services across Pakistan. The petitioner argued that this action infringes on fundamental rights guaranteed to both the petitioner and the citizens of Pakistan. In response, Deputy Attorney General Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi requested time to obtain instructions from relevant authorities.
The Islamabad High Court allowed this request and directed representatives from the concerned government departments (Respondents No. 2 & 4) to appear in person at the next hearing to explain the necessity and legality of the firewall installation in light of the petitioner’s contentions. The case was scheduled for the next hearing.
