"Make-up election" shall mean an election held to fill a vacant seat of a member of the State Great Khural in accordance with Article 77.2 of this law. /In this section, after the word "by-election", the word "in accordance with Article 77.2 of this law" was added by the law dated June 16, 2023, and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./ 4.8. Voting has the following types: supplementary and re-voting. 4.8.1 "additional voting" means the voting according to Article 78 of this law; 4.8.2 "re-voting" means the voting that will be held in the event of the situation specified in Article 79 of this law. Article 5. The right of citizens of Mongolia to vote and be elected 5.1. Citizens of Mongolia who have the right to vote have the right to vote without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, language, race, gender, social origin, status, wealth, occupation, position, religion, opinion, or education. 5.2.Embassy of Mongolia to a foreign country, Permanent Mission of Mongolia to an international organization, Consulate General of Mongolia, Consulate, Consular Mission (hereinafter referred to as "Diplomatic Mission") in a foreign country. citizens have the right to participate in elections and vote. /This section was added by the law dated June 16, 2023 and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./ 5.3.25 citizens of Mongolia who have reached the age of majority, have the right to vote, and meet the requirements set forth in this law, have the right to be elected as members of the National Assembly. /Number "5.2" of this section was changed to "5.3" by the law dated June 16, 2023 and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./ 5.4. Voters are provided with the opportunity to cast their vote secretly and express their will without interference. /Number "5.3" of this section was changed to "5.4" by the law dated June 16, 2023 and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./ 5.5. Citizens of Mongolia who have been found to be legally incompetent by a court decision or are serving a prison sentence shall not have the right to participate in elections. /Number "5.4" of this section was changed to "5.5" by the law dated June 16, 2023 and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./ 5.6. It is prohibited to illegally restrict the right of a citizen to vote or be elected, or to interfere with or hinder a voter's ability to vote freely. /Number "5.5" of this section was changed to "5.6" by the law dated June 16, 2023 and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./ Article 6. The right to nominate a member of the National Assembly 6.1. In accordance with this law, the party registered with the Supreme Court before the election is announced has the right to participate in the election and nominate a citizen of Mongolia who meets the requirements set forth in this law as a member of the State Great Khural. /The clause "Before announcing an election in accordance with this law..." of this section was repealed by Resolution No. 01 of June 3, 2020 of the Constitutional Court./ 6.2. Parties can form coalitions and nominate candidates in elections. 6.3. All parties that have joined the coalition have met the requirements specified in Article 6.1 of this law. 6.4. Citizens of Mongolia who meet the requirements set forth in this law have the right to nominate themselves as members of the State Great Khural. Article 7. Election principles 7.1. The election principle is based on ensuring the right of citizens of Mongolia to vote and be elected. 7.2. Elections shall be universal and every voter has the right to participate. 7.3. The voter participates in the election on the basis of his right to vote directly without any representation and casts his vote secretly. 7.4. State and local self-governing organizations organizing elections, their officials, candidates, parties, coalitions, other organizations participating in elections, and their officials shall adhere to the following principles when organizing and participating in elections: 7.4.1. rule of law; 7.4.2. ensuring transparency; 7.4.3. to maintain justice. 7.5. The principle of ensuring the transparency of the election process does not apply to the voter casting his vote secretly. Article 8. Automation of election activities 8.1. Relations related to the automation of election operations shall be regulated by the Law on Automated Election Systems. Article 9. Announcing elections 9.1. The State Great Khural shall schedule and announce the regular election before February 1st of the election year and determine the date of voting. 9.2. The voting day for the regular election is any working day in the last half of June of the regular election year. 9.3. The day of taking votes from citizens in foreign countries /hereinafter referred to as "the day of taking votes abroad" shall be determined by the State Assembly based on the proposal of the central election body /hereinafter referred to as the "General Election Committee", and the day of taking votes abroad will be up to four days. is /This section was added by the law dated June 16, 2023 and will be enforced from January 1, 2024./
