132 Laws of Malaysia Act 593 Explanation—If sufficient evidence has been obtained to raise a suspicion that the accused may have committed an offence and it appears likely that further evidence may be obtained by a remand, this is a reasonable cause for a remand. Compounding offences 260. (1) The offences punishable under the Penal Code described in the first two columns of Part A may, when no prosecution for such offence is actually pending, be compounded by the person mentioned in the third column of Part A; or when a prosecution for such offence is actually pending, be compounded by the person with the consent of the Court before which the case is pending. (2) The offences punishable under the Penal Code described in Part B may, with the consent of the Court before which the case is pending, be compounded by the person to whom the hurt has been caused. (3) When any offence is compoundable under this section the abetment of the offence or an attempt to commit the offence (when the attempt is itself an offence) may be compounded in like manner. (4) When the person who would otherwise be competent to compound an offence under this section is not competent to contract any person competent to contract on his behalf may compound the offence. (5) The composition of an offence under this section shall have the effect of an acquittal of the accused. (6) No offence under the Penal Code not mentioned in this section shall be compounded.
