Moved by the desire to promote the effective contribution of intellectual property to the
development of their States on the one hand, and concerned on the other hand to protect
intellectual property rights on their territories in as effective and uniform a manner as
possible;
Undertake, for that purpose, to accede to
(i) the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of March 20, 1883, as
last revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967,
(ii) the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of
September 9, 1886, as last revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and/or the Universal Copyright
Convention as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971,
(iii) the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Deposit of Industrial Designs
of November 6, 1925, as revised at The Hague on November 28, 1960, and at Stockholm on
July 14, 1967,
(iv) the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their
International Registration of October 31, 1958, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967,
