FORUM-ASIA, the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development, is the most wellestablished membership based human rights and development organisation in the Asia-Pacific
Region. We believe in working together in solidarity with other human rights organisations. The
changing times and increasing violation of human rights and freedoms require a more coherent
and concerted effort by human rights organisations across the countries and region. It is indeed
important to work at the grassroots, national, and international levels to protect the rights of
religious minorities under high level of threat from fanatic and militant groups as well as the state
machinery.
We believe in working closely with our members at the grassroots and national levels and we also
work at the national and international levels in partnership and alliance with other human rights
organisations and networks. Hence, we would like to express our solidarity and gratitude to Bytes
for All, for collaborating with the FORUM-ASIA, to jointly organise the Regional Consultation.
On behalf of FORUM-ASIA, I would also express deep appreciation to my colleagues, who
helped organise the regional consultation and for bringing out the report. I hope that this report
will enable all of us, the human rights community in the Asia-Pacific, to further strengthen our
evidence-based advocacy for human rights, justice and democratic governance in the region.
