The petitioner seeks a ban on all pornography, especially online, citing various reasons, including violence against women and children. During the course of proceedings before the Supreme Court and in response to the petition, the Indian Government ordered the blocking of over 800 websites hosting pornography despite the fact that no orders in this regard had been passed by the Court to date.
