28th September, 1936 T H E PALESTINE GAZETTE "Misdemeanour" means any offence w h i c h is not a felony or a contravention. " M o n e y " includes currency notes, bank notes, bank drafts, cheques and any other orders, warrants, or requests for the payment of money. " M u n i c i p a l authority" means a municipal council, local council, or other body duly authorised by law to exercise municipal authority and government. " N i g h t " or " n i g h t - t i m e " means the interval between half past six o'clock i n the evening and half past six o'clock i n the morning. "Offence" is an act, attempt or omission punishable by law. " P e r s o n " and " o w n e r " and other like terms, when used w i t h reference to property, include corporations of all kinds, and any other association of persons capable of owning property, and also when so used include H i s Majesty. " P e r s o n employed i n the public service" means any person holding any of the following offices or performing the duty thereof, whether as deputy or otherwise, n a m e l y : — ( a ) any civil office including the office of H i g h Com­ missioner, the power of appointing a person to w h i c h or of removing from which is vested i n H i s Majesty, or i n the H i g h Commissioner or i n the H i g h C o m missioner-in‫־‬Council or i n any public commission or board; or ( b ) any office to which a person is appointed or nomin­ ated by law ; o r ( c ) any civil office, the power of appointing to which or removing from which is vested i n any person or persons holding an office of any k i n d , included i n either of the two last preceding sub-heads of this section ; o r ( d ) any office of arbitrator or umpire i n any proceeding or matter submitted to arbitration by order or w i t h the sanction of any court, or i n pursuance of any l a w ; and the said term further includes:— (i) a member of a commission of enquiry appointed under or i n pursuance of any l a w ; (ii) any person employed to execute any process of a court; (iii) a l l persons belonging to the M i l i t a r y Forces or to the Police Forces of Palestine ; (iv) a l l persons i n the employment of any Govern­ ment Department; (v) a person acting as a minister of religion of whatsoever denomination i n so far as he performs functions i n respect of the notification of intending marriage or i n respect of the solemnization of marriage, or i n respect of the making or keeping of any register or certificate of marriage, b i r t h , baptism, death or burial, but not i n any other respect; (vi) a person i n the employ of a municipal authority;
