28th September, 1936 T H E PALESTINE GAZETTE is caused to any person, is guilty of a misdemeanour, and is liable to imprisonment for six months, or to a fine of fifty pounds or to both such penalties. 245. A n y person who exhibits any false light, mark or buoy intending or knowing it to be likely that such exhibition w i l l mislead any navigator, is guilty of a felony and is liable to i m prisonment for seven years. A n y person who knowingly or negligently conveys or causes to be conveyed for hire any person by water i n any vessel, when that vessel is i n such a state or so loaded as to be unsafe, is guilty of a misdemeanour. A n y person who by doing any act, or by omitting to take reasonable care w i t h any property i n his possession or under his charge, causes danger, obstruction or injury to any person i n any public way or public line of navigation, is guilty of a misdemeanour and is liable to a fine of fifty pounds. A person who strikes, touches, or moves, or otherwise applies force of any k i n d to the person of another, either directly or indirectly, without his consent, or w i t h his consent if the consent is obtained by fraud, is said to assault that-other person, and the act is called an assault. The term "applies force" includes the case of applying heat, light, electrical force, gas, odour or any other substance or thing whatever, if applied i n such a degree as to cause injury or personal discomfort. Definition of assault. 249. A n y person who unlawfully assaults another is guilty of a misdemeanour, and, i f the assault is not committed i n circumstances for which a greater punishment is provided i n this Code, is liable to imprisonment for one year, or to a fine of fifty pounds or to both such penalties. Common assault. 250. A n y person who commits an assault occasioning actual bodily harm is guilty of a misdemeanour. Assault causing actual bodily harm. 251. A n y person who :— (a) assaults any person w i t h intent to commit a felony or to resist or prevent the lawful apprehension or detainer of h i m self, or of any other person for any offence; or ( b ) assaults, resists, or wilfully obstructs any police officer i n the due execution of his duty, or any person acting i n aid of such officer; or (c) assaults any person i n pursuance of any unlawful combination or conspiracy to raise the rate of wages, or respecting any trade, business or manufacture, or respecting any person concerned or employed therein; or ( d ) assaults, resists, or obstructs any person engaged i n any lawful execution of process, or i n making a lawful distress, w i t h intent to prevent execution of process or to rescue any property lawfully taken under such process or distress; or ( e ) assaults any person on account of any act done by h i m i n the execution of any duty imposed on h i m by l a w ; is guilty of a misdemeanour and is liable to imprisonment for two vears.
