Othman visited a police station in Ariana to file a complaint against its deputy head, who she claims verbally attacked her via Facebook posts. In response to an argument that broke out at the station, Othman was arrested that day for “verbally insulting a public official while carrying out their duties” under Article 125 of the Penal Code, and was eventually convicted.
