This law safeguards personal data by regulating its collection, processing, use, and security. Personal data encompasses sensitive data, a person's name and parents' names, date and place of birth, residence, location, civil registration number, assets, education, memberships, electronic identifiers, and any other details that could directly or indirectly identify an individual. The law prioritizes data subject's consent, prohibiting the collection, processing, and use of personal data without the owner's explicit permission. Furthermore, it upholds the "right to be forgotten," empowering individuals to request the deletion of their data. The National Human Rights Commission and the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications jointly oversee the implementation of this crucial legislation, which plays a vital role in protecting personal privacy.
