Prior to the elections, and during the campaign period, the petitioner was visited by unknown persons that purported to deliver messages in person whilst others sent messages via cellular telephone that messages were of a threatening nature aimed at instilling fear in the Petitioner to be able to freely participate in the said elections. h. Your Petitioner states that as a consequence of the aforementioned illegal practices committed by the said 1st Respondent and his agents, the Petitioner remained in fear for his life and that of his gents throughout the entire Campaign and election period thus rendering the elections not free and unfair. i. The Petitioner further asserts that the elections were held in an atmosphere which was not free and fair due to widespread malpractice and corrupt practices by the 1st Respondent; malpractice and corrupt practices that included handing out of cash as well as issuing threats to civil servants to the effect of dismissal should they not vote for the 1st Respondent. j. A preferred list of Personnel that was endorsed by the 1st Respondent was the basis of the selection of Presiding Officers. Assistant Presiding Officers and Polling Assistants that underwent training thus rendering the elections biased and with a predetermined outcome. J6
