On January 10, 2010 Al-Yadib, a blogger and activist, was arrested. He had attended a student protest that was repressed by the police on December 9, 2009 and posted an article about it the next day. He was charged with degradation of state property”, “threatening a public official” and “participation in an illegal demonstration”. His sentence was 6 months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams. He was acquitted afterwards upon appealing the first instance court decision.
